What Your Donation Provides
Medical care and nutritional support: Children International provided access to medical care to every sponsored child, funded and supplied medical and dental clinics in eight countries, provided follow-up care and medication to sick and injured children, supported preventive health campaigns around the world, dispensed nearly a million anti-parasite treatments and returned thousands of malnourished children to health through feeding, educational and supplement programs.
Educational assistance: In addition to textbooks and school supplies for sponsored children, funds were used to supply educational materials for classrooms, to provide tutors where needed, and to build, improve and expand school facilities in a number of countries where overcrowding impeded learning. In some severely under-funded schools, Children International assisted with teachers’ salaries. Vocational preparedness programs for sponsored youth were implemented in many locations and expanded in others.
Clothing: Every child in the sponsorship program receives a number of new clothing items every year, ranging from shirts, pants, shoes, socks, skirts, and school uniforms to underwear.
Material aid: Sponsored children and their families received assistance with practical necessities such as bedding, dishes, eating utensils, cleaning supplies, home furnishings and building supplies.
Youth programs: Children International supported a broad range of programs geared toward helping more than 100,000 sponsored teenagers learn about responsibility, leadership and civic involvement.
Housing Program: Nothing changes the lives of needy children more than moving from a shack with a dirt floor to a home with extra space, sturdy walls and a concrete floor. Through a variety of programs, Children International built or repaired hundreds of homes. In addition, numerous community-based projects, such as clean water initiative, sewers projects and electrical developments were completed.
